For the first time in US Soccer history, the final 23 man roster will be announced live by coach Bob Bradley on ESPN. The tradition of naming final squads live on TV is done by just about every other top soccer country in the world. The live announcment will be made at 10am PST with all potential selections live at the event. The Mexico National soccer team will have the honor of playing the first ever soccer game at the brand new Meadowlands Stadium in New York. El Tri begins their busy World Cup warm up schedule on Friday when they face Ecuador in front of an expected crowd of more than 75,000 fans. The $1.6 billion stadium will be the new home to the New Yorks Giants and Jets of the NFL later this year.
For Mexico, this match against Ecuador is just the beginning of very long World Cup warm up schedule which will see them play 9 matches prior to kick off in South Africa. Following Ecuador, El Tri plays Senegal on Monday in Chicago and Angola on May 13 in Houston, then hosts Chile on May 16 in Mexico City during its exhibition tour. Read more…
